Take me back to Sunday

This Sunday me and my boyfriend went to my grandmas for Sunday lunch. I only go once in a while as I get a mound of food, which makes you so full you loose most of Sunday because you don’t want to move! That said it makes it more special, like a treat once every few months- this one was great! We had lamb that literally melted in your mouth with veg and Yorkshire puddings ( I snook a third one later!) for pudding after we had macaroni pudding! It was all so good! I’d like to go back in time and to not be on my dinner at work with my salad!

“Big Brother is…

“Big Brother is Watching You.”
― George Orwell, 1984

It is bizzare one so many levels how in 1948 when George Orwell first penned 1984 how close to reality he actually has predicted the future that we now live in. Some of his ideas are extreme however taking the idea it can be tangibly seen in modern day life! as such the idea of Big Brother- we are being watched everywhere you go there are cameras, most phones/tablets have GPS built in which can be accessed by hi-tech people from anywhere to find where you are.

The idea that everyone wears the same- well actually there is a uniform for everything in life where you are expected to wear certain things and act in certain ways.  The idea that you are tortured for not conforming to the norm is also true as someone who acts and dresses different will be stared at and in certain circumstances ousted by society.

The idea of the book has also helped pave the way for new novels such as The hunger Games- it is a very similar basis for a book!

It is then questioning how people can disappear in this day and age when we are constantly watched, how can a plane vanish when everything is tracked.

The book is a dystopian novel however aspects are very true- do we live in a dystopian world?

So Confused.

The Missing Malaysian Flight.

I think its horrible that the plane is missing and I seriously hope that all the people are okay. The thing I find hard to comprehend is that in this day and age where everything is done on line and they can get a space craft over to somewhere like mars, yet a plane can vanish into thin air .

It’s like something out of a tv show, such as Lost. It’s scary to think how much else we don’t know or how much things are able to be hidden if people so wish too.

If someone has played around with items on the plane to make it undetectable, they are seriously going down in history because they have managed to fool so many countries with what’s happened.

The whole thing is bizzare and as I said earlier, I just hope that everyone is okay!

Chocolate

Chocolate

For lent, or tbh in my reasoning to see if I can actually not eat chocolate for 40 days (actually lent lies and its 46!!) I have managed 7 days so far. I am actually managing okay for now. Its hot chocolates that I am missing!
I also have given up bread to see if that has an effect on my weight!

Fingers Crossed!!

Amazon, I’m Confused

I have been a member of  amazon and love film for a while now but these new changes to love film are, in my opinion, not for the better.

Amazon does not seem to answer questions well to what the changes really mean. Amazon were very clever to begin with by stopping free delivery on orders over £10; I know that not all orders are included and you can still get some for free, but not all of them. So the difference of monthly payments that are already made to amazon for love film plus prime is about £7 so in certain terms it makes sense to go fort he prime. However the opportunity to be able to cancel when ever you want is lost, they have you hooked for a year. The other thing is that the quality of love film is not up to the standards of Netflix however it does have on different titles. The disappointment is that if there is a new release film on it normal means its crap!

Also when i first joined love film it was £4.99 a month, which for the quality i did not mind paying however with price increases and amazon making more dictations about everything; are they trying to hard to gain more money, to the detriment of the company?

HOLIDAY

So last week I was doing the usual search that starts for me at this time of year; where are we going to go on holiday?

After having a little look about I got an idea, and now I cannot wait, we have yet to book it but the decision on where me and my boyfriend are going has been made.

We are going to Cape Cod in the first week of November ( and a sunny get away in July somewhere European!)

I cannot wait to see New England, we are planning a trip out to Boston and Providence. I hope its nice at the cod at that time! I love the idea of staying somewhere to pretty and enriched with history!

I hope that the fall colours are still there! it looks so beautiful!

Life Means Life

Today it has been ruled that in “heinous” cases life will mean life.

I personally agree that this is the right decision. The argument put forward by the European Court Of Human Rights, was that to imprison someone for life was against human rights; but what about the rights of the people who were murdered? I do not believe that the inmates should have ever gained the chance to be able to declare it was against their “human rights”.

Life in prison is no longer the hard time of what it once was and the inmates are well looked after. This respects their human rights, as they are not left to just rot in prison with nothing.

When I worked in a local shop I had a customer in once describing how he was going away for a couple of years; but he saw it as a holiday. He had free rent for a year, free food, free gym membership, free learning (if he wanted), xbox, tv and time out in the yard. He said all he lacked was his freedom, but after a couple of years he’d have that back and it wasn’t like he was going somewhere terrible.

Something needs to be done about this.

Even when life means life, there is still the luxuries in prison that don’t make prison the same punishment it once once. This is why we get so many repeat offenders.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the ruling? or life in a modern prison?
